25 km north west of Lyon, for more than six centuries, has been the home of Domaine Chasselay.
Domaine Chasselay is one of the oldest wineries in Beaujolais. Since 1464, this family of winegrowers has been cultivating their vines using techniques that respect the environment and the soil. The domaine is located in Châtillon d’Azwegues in Rhône region where their grapes are exclusively hand harvested.
A family run company, Jean-Gilles and Christian Chasselay have been harvesting winegrowers since 1981. After studies in viticulture, oenology and wine trade, their children, Claire and Fabien, joined the team in 2007. They have proudly carried forward the wine making ethos of this vineyard of zero pesticides and zero chemicals.
The lunar calendar, the seasons and weather patterns are observed all year round. Bio-diversity in and around the vineyard together with flowers and hedges, are used to keep a perfect balance and to protect the vines from neighbouring lands that use pesticides.
The wines from Domaine Chasselay have a taste of passion, which is no surprise given the amazingly hard work the Chasselay family.
