Westwell British Rosé

About
You'll love the freshness and unique taste of this rose. Westwell have co-fermented with ripe Regent to add notes of bright red crunchy fruit. At Westwell they follow minimal intervention or 'natural' winemaking. When they first took over the vineyard the site was being conventionally farmed, which they decided to move away from.

Producer
Adrian Pike took over the Westwell estate from its previous owner, John Rowe, in 2016. The vineyards are located on a South facing slope on chalk soil in the Kent Downs. The lands are planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Ortega. Adrian gained his experience at Davenport Vineyards and left to take over Westwell with his friend Marcus Goodwin.

Prior to working in wine Adrian made a name for himself in the independent music industry and has brought some of that spirit along with him into the English wine world.

Tasting
This wine has a nose of wild strawberries and honeysuckle with flavours of redcurrants and bramble fruits.

Sparkenhoe Red Leicester

About
A traditional Red Leicester cheese made from the milk of their own cows, a true revival of a fabulous cheese, nutty, sweet with a citrus finish. Cloth bound and matured for 6 months on beech shelves.

Producer
David and Jo Clarke are dairy farmers who run one of the country’s top herds of pedigree Holstein-Friesian cattle. When they decided to revive the tradition of cheese-making on the farm, they discovered that Red Leicester had been made there from 1745 until 1875. David was initially wary of making the cheese, as Red Leicester cheese had a poor reputation – all that remained at the time was factory-made cheeses that bore little resemblance to the great farmhouse cheeses of the past. In fact, traditional Red Leicester cheese had died out in England in the early 1950s. In the end, it was David and Jo’s desire to re-create the original great Red Leicester cheese that overcame their initial worry. So, in 2005, armed with an old recipe and having completed a cheese-making course, the Clarkes set about reviving Red Leicester, using traditional methods and raw milk from their own herd. The name Sparkenhoe has historical significance, in that it is an old Leicestershire term meaning ‘gorsey nob’. It is also the name for the ‘hundred area’ in which the farm is situated.

Tasting
Red Leicester is a hard cheese with a deep and unusual russet red colour. The texture is flaky and silky, similar to cheddar but much more crumbly, and with a milder flavour. The taste is savoury with a slight nuttiness that finishes smooth and rich.

Alvarez has an unmistakable passion for good taste and a keen eye for the aesthetics which can be admired in the brand's beautiful packaging. One of their main goals has always been to create original products with personality, simplicity and elegance. Alvarez was inspired to start a chocolate brand because his grandmother would make him and his siblings bread with chocolate. He called the company ‘Pancracio’, as the name alludes to something vintage, traditional and elegant. He wanted the brand to carry a retro image while at the same time evoking something clean and modern.

In 2017, Alvarez sold Pancracio to Valencian investors, but his original vision of the brand remains intact. The product keeps its clean yet vintage identity. They also keep their commitment to quality. The company offers unique artisanal chocolate flavours such as crunchy chocolates, chocolate covered nuts, chocolate with salted chips and raspberry and roses chocolate to name a few.
