THE STORY
Bodegas Laureatus is a relatively new winery established by the Oubiña-Somoza family. For decades the family has been recognised as one of the best suppliers of shellfish in Spain. They are their own winegrowers as well as winemakers, this allows them to control the development of the vines, and make decisions about their growth and planting. They prioritize quality over quantity and the authentic and transparent over artifice.
They are focused exclusively on the production of quality wines using the Albariño grape. The vineyards, some of which are nearly 50 years old and face south-southwest, which provides them with ideal sunlight throughout the day. This exposure favours optimum ripening of the grapes. The vines are trained using the traditoonal vine training system with the grape 1.80 meters above the ground to prevent rotting and facilitate aeration.
