THE STORY
Raúl Pérez is considered one of the world's most talented winemakers, among leading figures in 'New Spain' movement. He was influential in putting the Bierzo region under the spotlight.

Pérez's winemaking expertise was learned at his family winery Castro Ventosa, founded by the family in 1752. I was there that he led his first harvest at the age of 22 and developed his in depth knowledge for the terroirs, and for Mecía. His unique wines are the result of his academic studies and endless curiosity.

Hoping to explore a different approach to viticulture  and winemaking he launched a personal venture, independent from his family's estate. Therefore, in 2003 Bodegas y Viñedos Raúl Pérez was born.
THE WINE
This wine is produced with the Garnacha Tintorera grapes, harvested by hand in boxes during the first week of September. They are fermented in 50% stainless steel and 50% concrete along with a small portion of stems. Intense and fresh red cherry flavours are balanced out by minerality and earthiness from oak ageing.
