THE LAND
Fontaine du Clos benefits from a unique location, with Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the south west and Vacqueyras to the north east presided by the peaks of the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. The vineyards stretch over 100 hectares, 14 of which belong to Vacqueyras AOC and 13 within Côtes du Rhône. They cultivate an extensive variety of grapes, including Dyrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Caladoc, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Sauvignon Blanc, Marselan, and various others. These are grown on fine terroirs with fertile soil and large pebbles. Altitude, slope, cool winds, and well drained soils with large pebbles make up the terroir on which the company has built its prestigious name.
As a vine nursery, their farming practices are obliged under strict controls not to add many chemicals. This ensures that the mother vine can fight and withstand disease on its own when sold, transported and planted.
