THE STORY
After a lengthy search, the Osborne family settled on Finca el Quiñon to be the home of this wine endeavour. Once land was found in the town of Pesquera del Duero, situated in the middle of the 'Golden Mile' of the Ribera de Duero. This is an area with its own identity where the first winery was born "Viñas del Jaros".

After this the second was founded, "Bodegas y viñedos de Cal Grau" located in an area full of history and picturesque volcanic landscapes. The project has continued to develop, continuing to create great red wines from all over the national territory. The winery is very small and takes great care of the oenology, dominating 46 hectares of vineyard.
THE LAND
The estate sits in the prestigious Ribera del Duero, an area known for its red wines thanks to the remarkable soil. This soil is packed with pebbles and chalky stones and contains remnants of marine fossils. The south-facing sloping position contributes to creating the perfect climate which gives their wines a strong and unique identity. There are 46 hectares of vineyard at Finca el Quiñon and 41 of these are dedicated to the celebrated Tempranillo. The utmost care goes into harvesting the grapes to ensure maintain the character of the land.
HOW ITS MADE
The specific wine we sell, Jaros, is a blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Maceration was carried out for 14 days with its skins, then fermented at 26ºC for a period of 11 days to extract flavour from the skins. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 15 months, making it a well-balanced, powerful wine.
